In addition to buying titles from commercial audiobook publishers, we also record many of our education and children's titles in our own sound-proofed digital studios at Lant Street.
We record the books using a digital audio computer system called Pro Tools which is now the industry standard computer audio package. Using Pro Tools has decreased the time it takes to record a book because mistakes are easy to edit as you can see the recording visually. The audio quality of our books has also improved with this new technology and books can be transferred from one PC to another across a network. Many of our readers comment on how much they enjoy reading books for us in the new studios and a quiet atmosphere ensures that they can concentrate and give their best performances.
When recording and editing have been completed, we make a master tape which we send to our dedicated copying room where we produce cassette copies. At the same time, the digital files originally created are used to make MP3 CD copies and are also uploaded onto the internet for our members to listen to the titles online through internet streaming.
