Current Opportunities:

Library & Membership Officer

Do you love books?  Have fantastic customer service skills?  Are you willing to work hard to ensure our members receive the best possible service?  Then we want to hear from you.

Listening Books is an audiobook library service for people whose illness, disability, learning or mental health difficulty impacts on their ability to read the printed word  We are looking for a hard working individual to join our team at a very exciting time of growth. We have over 9000 audiobooks in our postal and online library and serve some 90,000 members across the UK.  We are also in the process of installing a brand new bespoke database and website.

The role:

The successful candidate will be working in our library to deliver a professional, customer-focused service, responding to member requests and enquiries via telephone and e-mail.  They will be required to assist with the day-to-day running of the library, ensuring CDs are delivered to members, processing new member application forms, dealing with enquiries from prospective members, digitising and processing audiobooks as well as undertaking a variety of other admin duties.

We are looking for a dedicated and conscientious individual with fantastic customer service skills, as they will be talking to a range of different clients with varying disabilities.  Typical queries from members tend to include requests for information about the services we offer, advice about the audiobooks we stock in the library and technical questions regarding our download and streaming services.

We are a member led charity and the successful candidate will understand that their role is pivotal to ensuring the best possible experience for members of Listening Books throughout their membership with us.  Your work and correspondence with the members will ensure the recruitment and retention figures the charity has been seeing will continue to rise, as we endeavour to provide the best audiobook service possible to all people with an illness and disability which prevents them from accessing books.

We are a small team who work closely together and we are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to continue our good work.
