Gillian joined Listening Books as a volunteer in January 2013, helping to deliver and set up mini libraries. She worked previously as a librarian and Bookstart coordinator with Brent Libraries, and is happy to be promoting access to and enjoyment of books.
Barbara returned back to live in the UK in 2008 after over 20 years living in New Zealand where she was working as an administrator in an university library, and has been volunteering at Listening Books since October 2011. Originally from Kent, she has moved many times in the UK and also lived in Singapore many years ago thanks to life in the forces. She volunteered at another charitable organisation where she had the thrill of meeting and shaking the hand of Bob Geldof—she is now waiting for Listening Books to match that!
Sarah joined Listening Books as a volunteer in 2018 and supports the team with admin and research. She has a long-standing love of reading, starting her career as a bookseller before going on to work as a freelance Illustrator for magazines. Sarah lost her sight in 2013 and immersed herself in the world of audiobooks during her recovery. She is passionate about ensuring reading is accessible to all and enjoys reading bedtime stories to her son using braille.
