Membership Support Officer

Listening Books is an audiobook service for people whose illness, disability, learning or mental health condition impacts on their ability to read the printed word. We are looking for a hard working individual to join our team.  We have over 9000 audiobooks in our postal and online library and serve some 100,000 members across the UK. 

  • Salary: £23,000 PA (pro-rata)
  • Location: Southwark, London, Greater London 
  • Job Type: Permanent, Part Time 21 hours per week
  • Benefits: Matched contribution pension scheme up to a maximum of 8% of an employee's (gross) salary, following successful probation period. We also offer an interest free travel loan for eligible employees and paid sight tests, plus 20 days annual leave, pro-rata.

The role

The successful candidate will be working to deliver a professional, customer-focused service, responding to member requests and enquiries via telephone and e-mail.  They will be required to assist with the day-to-day running of the CD service, ensuring CDs are delivered to members, processing new member application forms, dealing with enquiries from prospective members, digitising and processing audiobooks as well as undertaking a variety of other admin duties.

We are looking for a dedicated and conscientious individual with fantastic customer service skills, as they will be talking to a range of different clients with varying disabilities.  Typical queries from members tend to include requests for information about the services we offer, advice about the audiobooks we stock and technical questions regarding our download and streaming services. 

We are a member led charity and the successful candidate will understand that their role is pivotal to ensuring the best possible experience for members of Listening Books throughout their membership with us.  Your work and correspondence with the members will ensure the recruitment and retention figures the charity has been seeing will continue to rise, as we endeavour to provide the best audiobook service possible to all people with an illness and disability which prevents them from accessing books.
