The National Year of Reading 2026

Listening Books is going all in for the National Year of Reading 2026

This National Year of Reading is all about strengthening reading culture, and Listening Books is proud to be a part of this fantastic initiative, championing audiobooks as a powerful, inclusive way to experience books and stories.

To celebrate the joy that books can bring, we are offering free membership to 100 people who would find the £25 fee a barrier to joining. If you have an illness, disability, learning or mental health condition, such as dyslexia, anxiety or ME, you can use our audiobook service to join in and enjoy all the books we have on offer in our catalogue. Whether you want to try fiction, non-fiction, BBC comedies or children's classics, or you aren't yet sure, we'll have an audiobook for you!

How To Train Your Dragon Books 1-3

I joined listening books after I was diagnosed with severe dyslexia. Reading had always been a struggle for me, and I hated reading so much. Listening books has allowed me a platform where I can listen to all types of audio books without the overwhelm of trying to read, whilst trying to remember and process what I'm reading. I can fully imerse myself with stories without feeling excluded from the reading world. It is an amazing service, that supports everyone, especially neurodiverse people, prioritising an inclusive environment for everyone.
