A literary weekend away

A literary weekend away

August 24, 2016 0 Comments
The summer holidays might be coming to an end but the sun is shining and there's no excuse to not make the most of the weekend! So for all book lovers out there, what could be better than combining some literary exploration with your time off?
The Visit England website is full of great ideas including these gems...
The Roald Dahl Museum

This is a great place for all the family to mess around and relive your favourite Dahl classics. Roald Dahl day is coming up on 13th September (Dahl's birthday) - what better way to celebrate!

Isle of Wight Literary Festival

The Isle of Wight has great literary significance, with Lord Alfred Tennyson, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, and John Keats all choosing to visit or live on the island. October's Literary Festival is a great time to enjoy it and engage with other literary lovers!

Sherlock Holmes Trail

Your destination is Baker Street and you're out to discover all things Holmes. Why not investigate the Sherlock Holmes Museum and then tour London with writer Conan Doyle as your guide. You could even splash out and visit Simpsons-on-the-Strand, Holmes’ favourite restaurant.

Jane Austen Walking Tour

You don't really need an excuse to visit Bath, but why not enjoy the setting through the eyes of Jane Austen, and see how the city inspired her when she lived there. Combining literature and history, you can imagine Bath as it would have been in its Georgian days.

Nottingham Arboretum

The Arboretum is said to be the inspiration behind J.M. Barrie’s classic children's tale ‘Peter Pan’. The park is beautiful and the ideal setting to let your imagination run wild!

Nottingham Arboretum Literary Adventure

Let us know if you set off on any literary adventures!
