If you've ever listened to an audiobook then chances are you've had someone tell you it's 'cheating' or not 'real' reading. Here's five reasons that's not right.
October marks Black History Month in the UK and we wanted to highlight audiobooks from black British authors - from compelling fiction and non-fiction to books for children and young adults.
Audiobooks are particularly good for immersing yourself in nature stories. Once you've settled down, put your headphones in or your bluetooth speaker on, it can be a very immersive experience. Having the added extra of natural soundscapes in many audiobooks can make it feel like you're almost outside. Just open a window and add a warm breeze!
If you've seen the release schedule for this years upcoming films and TV shows then you'll know that there are so many great books being adapted! It's almost hard to know where to start! But, whether you're a person who thinks the book is better than the film, or a person who just likes to know what's going to happen, there's loads of great reasons to read the book before you see the 2020 screen adaptation.

At Listening Books, our library is made up of audiobooks from publishers like Penguin and HarperCollins, as well as audiobooks we record in our studios. So, as well as audiobooks read by celebrities such as Stephen Fry, we also work with narrators who volunteer their time. If you've borrowed a Horrible Histories audiobook from our library, or swotted up before an exam with a York Notes A Level guide, then it was most likely made in our studios.
